Carey Shunskis

Carey Shunskis is the Music and Program Director of ComMUSICation, a nonprofit based in St Paul, MN dedicated to amplifying young voices and cultivating skills for success through equitable access to music, collaboration, and opportunity. She is passionate about community-centered music making rooted in joy and curiosity. Carey holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Boston University. During her time in Boston, she founded et al., a cooperative ensemble completely directed by its participating musicians. She is an active member of the Twin Cities music community, serving on the board of MPLS (imPulse) and performing with Bach Society MN and VocalEssence. In addition to her leadership and performance work, Carey maintains a private studio teaching voice and music theory to students of all ages and experience levels, fostering confidence alongside musical and artistic growth. She spends her free time kickboxing and hanging out with her cat.
