Nicole Navratil

Nicole Schwartz Navratil is a composer, lyricist, yoga teacher, and performer based in Minneapolis. She holds a BM in Vocal and Choral Music Education from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities and taught music for over 15 years. Nicole is thrilled to be returning this June as a student of the International Choral Composers Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she has studied with Sherry Blevins, Charles Anthony Silvestri, Kate Fox Janzen, and other incredible instructors. She is delighted to be making her choral publishing debut this year as part of Jocelyn Hagen's "Compose Like a Girl" series with her piece, "Sing When Your Voice Shakes."

A former musical theatre kid, Nicole performs now as a singer and hand percussionist with the Twin Cities folk and Americana group, Sonic Love Child. Nicole discovered yoga while in music school and has been teaching since 2015. In her free time (when she and her husband Curt are not chasing after their two young boys), Nicole loves reading ridiculously long novels, reminiscing about her travel obsession, and visiting the incredible restaurants throughout Minneapolis and Saint Paul (please reach out for recs!).

Nicole is grateful to be offering yoga as part of this year's Chorus America conference, and looks forward to providing attendees with a welcoming space to relax, find gentle movement in community with others, and take a deep breath before heading home. No experience is necessary to join yoga—all are welcome!
