Timothy Westerhaus

Timothy Westerhaus, D.M.A., serves as Director of Choral Studies at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and as Artistic Director of Choral Arts Northwest in Seattle. From 2010 to 2021, he served as Director of Choirs and Vocal Studies at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington and was recently President of Northwestern ACDA. He currently serves on the ACDA Standing Committee on Advocacy and Collaboration. He has conducted choirs in Europe, Argentina, Colombia, Japan, South Korea, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. He performs professionally as a pianist, continuo keyboardist, and tenor, including at the Oregon Bach Festival, where he has sung with Craig Hella Johnson and Jos van Veldhoven. His research focuses on collaboration, expansion of the choral canon, and performance practice from the Renaissance to the Spiritual. He received his degrees from the University of Saint Thomas and Boston University, studying with Drs. Angela Kasper and Ann Howard Jones.
