The Michael O’Neal Singers (MOS) are pleased to announce the appointment of Reece Windjack as Assistant and Cover Conductor, beginning this season. This role reflects MOS’s commitment not only to musical excellence but also to nurturing the next generation of choral leaders.

While the concept of a Cover Conductor is more common in orchestras, MOS recognized the value of having a skilled conductor on site to assist with rehearsals, take detailed notes, and support balance and musical precision. The position also offers an emerging conductor an unparalleled opportunity to gain experience with choral repertoire and refine conducting technique.

Reece brings a wealth of experience and a deep dedication to community-driven music. “While I’m eager to learn from Michael’s exceptional expertise in choral conducting and performance, what excites me most is gaining insight into how he has inspired others and shaped the greater Atlanta community through choral music,” said Reece. “Michael is not only a gifted conductor, but also a true changemaker, and our work together is grounded in the hope of inspiring others to create positive change. I look forward to building connections with the many individuals who have dedicated their time and energy to this remarkable ensemble.”

Michael O’Neal, who was himself mentored by the legendary Robert Shaw, sees this partnership as a continuation of that lineage of mentorship. “We have found in Reece someone eager to learn and grow as a communicator through music. For someone early in his conducting career, Reece possesses a wide range of experiences that will be further enhanced by his association with MOS. I very much look forward to working with this talented and committed musician, and I believe both he and MOS will benefit greatly from this affiliation.”

This collaboration reflects MOS’s broader mission: to pass the torch of choral excellence while fostering meaningful connections through the shared experience of music. By mentoring emerging conductors like Reece, MOS ensures that the spirit of inspiration, community, and musical artistry continues to flourish.
