The Chorus America Board of Directors elected Mark Lawson as its new chair during the June meeting immediately preceding the 2025 Conference in St. Lous. Mark and his wife Ginny are the owners of ECS Publishing Group, which includes Morningstar Music Publishers, EC Schirmer Music Company, Galaxy Music, and others. Mark’s work with the American Guild of Organists, the Church Music Publishers’ Association, Opera America, and the National Music Publishers’ Association gives him a broad perspective on the choral and musical fields. He succeeds Anton Armstrong, who served in this role for the past three years. At Chorus America’s Annual Meeting at the St. Louis Conference, Anton passed the ceremonial baton to Mark and received a commemorative gift in honor of his leadership and service.

The Board welcomed two new members in June: Ahmed Anzaldúa, founder and artistic director of Border CrosSing and director of music ministries at Unity Church-Unitarian in the Twin Cities, and Gregory Cheng, co-CEO and president of Cantata Wealth.

Five board members completed their Chorus America board service in June. Dashon Burton, Molly Buzick Pontin, and Andrea Ramsey all rotated off the board after completing their terms. Two board members also rotated off after completing their second of two nine-year terms: David Hayes and Duain Wolfe. David and Duain were honored for their extraordinary service.

The Board also voted to honor Duain Wolfe with the title of Director Laureate, in recognition of his many contributions to Chorus America over more than 30 years, including a term as board chair from 2003-2006.
