Heritage Choir: Bilingual “Community Sings”

Date Range

Session Type
Session

Heritage Choir was created as a bilingual choir opportunity that puts community at the heart of the process, with music as the vehicle. Heritage Choir is open to all without an audition, and especially welcomes Latinx community members, regardless of their English language ability or musical training. Heritage Choir reimagines the rehearsal process and each session has a theme in which participants bring a song for the ensemble to explore and to learn. Heritage Choir meets in two sessions throughout the year: a four-week winter session and a longer six-week spring session. Each session culminates in a “Community Sing,” a joyful community event led in part by the ensemble, featuring guest artists, and always in a bilingual setting meant for all ages, followed by a reception with food and drink, providing space for connections to develop and grow. This session will share more information regarding the process of Heritage Choir, will invite participants to sing, and will bring a panel of Heritage Choir singers to share their experiences.
